Nicholas became the 14th named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season late Sunday morning over the southwest Gulf of Mexico.
Several other locations along the Texas coast clocked wind gusts at least to 60 mph including a 77-mph gust at Palacios. Storm surge and rainfall flooding prompted the closure of the only road from Matagorda to Matagorda Beach, Texas. By Tuesday morning, over a dozen stretches of Houston metro freeways were flooded, including Highway 225 in Pasadena and stretches of Interstate 45.
Some people can successfully make jokes in dire situations. Nobody working there can and I'm asking you to stop trying. I heard 'category slow' storm done twice and a car trying to reverse out of flood water referred to as 'funny.' You of all places should know better.
