According to New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, the concussion-like symptoms Masahiro Tanaka exhibited had dissipated, but he’ll be in concussion protocol for the time being.

NEW YORK – In a frightening moment at Yankee Stadium, Masahiro Tanaka was struck in the head by teammate Giancarlo Stanton's blistering line drive during a Saturday afternoon simulated game.

“I’d say right now he’s doing well,’’ Boone said. “Feel like we’re getting good news on that front.’’ Boone described Tanaka as being “alert and aware’’ while he was prone on the mound, “but you always worry about the next minutes and hours.’’ “That stops you in your tracks,’’ Boone said. “The first thing when something like that happens, you worry about is a guy’s life.Tanaka, who had also faced Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres during his session, was not using the protective net while he pitched in his first simulated inning since the Yankees gathered for their second spring training.
