Nearly 200,000 people in New York City cast ballots for the presidential election duringthe first weekend of early voting, officials said, but hourslong waits sparked calls for more voting sites and other reforms.Mayor Bill de Blasio, a longtime critic of the New York City Board of Elections, said Monday that the board needed more voting machines and staff to prevent long lines through the rest of early voting.
“The Board of Elections was clearly not prepared for this kind of turnout and needs to make adjustments immediately,” Mr. de Blasio, a Democrat, said at a press conference. “Long lines tell people to go home.”The board is an independent body that the mayor doesn’t control. However, he called on the board to bring on the machines it is saving for Election Day to be used in early voting. He also said the city would provide any funding that the board needed to improve operations.
“I don’t think there’s a conspiracy at the Board of Elections. I think there’s incompetence,” he said. The mayor added that he would like to team up with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to figure out legislation to change the way the city votes. Read more: The Wall Street Journal »

The Bronx location in Parkchester ran smoothly and the lines moved quickly! Not sure whats going on in Manhattan! Bless these people all over the country. Amazing that if want a coffee, just walk a block...but to vote... I-phone buyer suppression! Please stop blaiming Republicans for New York’s failure. This is all because of disorganized and lazy city and state workers.
walkaway We’ll stipulate that New Yorker’s are dumb as hell and award the state to Biden. No need for lines. Look at 'Trumps world': USA 320 million people with over 220.000 corona deaths. Germany 83 million people with 10.000 corona deaths. Thanks God, that Trump isn`t OUR chancellor!!! AND: it's not a question, who is red or blue!!!
Early voting is meant for people who can't vote on election day for some reason. Polls will be fully staffed on election day when most will skate through quickly. Idiots voting early 'just because' are straining the lower-staffed early polling places. This is not suppression. Looks like New Yorkers learned from the chaotic primaries and prefer in-person voting to ensure their vote does indeed get counted.
Please help! Please retweet/share! 8-months-old baby Joshua is battling acute lymphocytic leukemia, a type of blood cancer. His life is dependent on chemotherapy & a stem cell transplant. Help Joshua's family in offsetting the cost of his treatment here: New Yorkers work so hard for their rent they have no time to keep interested in politics, they just want to have that badge of wokeness for their friends, and work 80h in a week. Anybody who understands who Biden is would never vote for him.
New Yorkers put democrats in charge locally, what else would u expect there I bet Trump ain't talking about the stock market today in PA. Dow now down 900 points... Early voting is meant for people who can't vote on election day for some reason. Polls will be fully staffed on election day when most will skate through quickly. An independent body accountable to no one ... In a state, and a city that have been under progressive control for a VERY long time How could this be? Any chance of some native New Yorkers getting smarter about their voting habits? They used to be smarter, hopefully they still are. Haha. Another fail for DeBlasio and Cuomo.
sounds like that is a city and state issue... In progressive New York, I don't believe it.

That's great, but it's too bad their vote doesn't count because of the Electoral College. New Yorkers are excited to make change happen by voting for Joe Biden. I was told that is ‘voter suppression’ 🤷♂️
