The New York attorney general's office said Wednesday that it has launched an investigation into tech platforms, including Twitch, Discord and 4chan, in connection with the mass shooting in Buffalo that killed 10 people.

to the state's prosecutors that the Buffalo massacre"raises questions about the role of social media platforms in the promotion of violence. These questions need to be answered."

And the suspect live-streamed the violence on Amazon-owned Twitch, which says it was able to remove the feed in less than two minutes after it started. Still, the graphic footage quickly spread across the internet. The responsibility of social media companies in connection with radicalizing mass shooters and helping the individuals amplify footage of violence is a topic that has long been hotly debated.

For attorney general James and other investigators attempting to hold tech companies to account for how people use the services, the legal road is always going to be a tough one, Goldman said.

New York State AG investigates Discord, Twitch roles in Buffalo mass shooting | EngadgetNew York State is launching an investigation into the roles Discord, Twitch and other sites may have played in the Buffalo mass shooting.. That office may want to look at US and NY Constitutions while it is at it. I think both may have some language in them concerning free speech. It also may want to look into the actions of the guy in jail, as he may have been the actual cause of the deaths and injuries. This is bad I don't believe the platform is the problem, the problem is the ideologies. You're blaming twitch and 4chan while Fox news is broadcasting freely the same ideas. But that is chill, right?
