A hike, run or walk for each month in 2023

The opportunities for hiking, walking and running in San Diego are endless, with routes at the coast and in the mountains, along paved and dirt paths and featuring options for all skill levels.

But simply telling yourself to hike and run more in the new year doesn’t always mean you’re going to do it. You’ll need a plan, and it’s even better if that plan can keep you accountable for the whole year.Thank you for your support. These are 12 of San Diego’s best and most beloved runs, hikes and walks to do from January through December. Some of these routes might be familiar favorites, while others may put you on an uncharted path. The hope is that these local options will encourage you to hit the trail or road at least once a month in 2023 — though luckily, you can hike, walk or run nearly all these routes year-round.
