A new Texas law in effect on January 18 defines what type of shelter a dog must have access to if left tethered alone outside, and it prohibits the use of certain kinds of restraints — including chains.

Violating the new law can result in a Class C misdemeanor, or a Class B misdemeanor if the person has been previously convicted of a violation.

Prior to the new law, dog owners had 24 hours to make changes if an officer was concerned about a tethered animal’s safety, but the new law eliminates that warning period. "This key element will now give us the discretion to assess critical situations and take swift action if necessary," said Adam Reynolds, Chief Animal Cruelty Investigator with the Houston SPCA. "Lifting this waiting period will no doubt help us save countless more lives.", such as when camping or at recreational areas, or when a temporary restraint is being used. The law does not prohibit someone from walking a dog with a handheld leash.

New Texas voting law causing some mail-in ballots to be rejectedHundreds of requests have come into county offices statewide, and many are being rejected. That's because of a new law signed by Gov. Greg Abbott last year. I got my voter registration card today. Seems I followed the rules. So what's the problem. It's not difficult. Laws change paperwork changes. Get the new paperwork. It's free and easy to obtain. No it’s not because of a new law. It’s because they don’t know what’s printed on their own drivers license and SS card. How dare we expect someone to look at their own card and write the number down? Or maybe they are frauds who tried getting ballots?

New voting law leading to high rejection of mail-in ballot applications in TexasHundreds of mail-in ballot applications are being rejected in some of Texas's largest counties because of the new voting law passed by the Republican-led state legislature last year, according to multiple election officials. Is that mean the votes will be fairly evaluated and therefore conformably counted ! But Fox News said no one is losing their ability to vote from these laws! Pathetic.
