Nearly half of Americans who support either Donald Trump or Joe Biden say they have no close friends or few close friends who support the opposing 2020 presidential candidate.
A slight majority of Biden supporters between the ages of 18 to 34, 51 percent, say they have"no friends who support Trump" in their close friend group, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey. And among Trump supporters with a high school degree or less, almost exactly half say they have"no close friends who support Biden" in his bid for the presidency this November.
An overwhelming majority of Americans overall, around 90 percent of supporters for both politicians, said they have at least have"some" friends who support the other candidate.In perhaps the widest divide of the survey, 67 percent of Black supporters of Biden said they have zero friends who support Trump. There was not enough information collected in the Pew study to create any data for the opinions of Black Trump supporters.
About 80 percent of Biden supporters agreed"women still face significant obstacles that make it harder for them to get ahead of men," compared to just 26 percent of Trump supporters who agreed. A wide-ranging set of factors including one's age, location, and education level also impacted the Pew survey. Among Trump supporters over the age of 65, two-thirds reported having"a lot of friends" who also support the president. But that number is cut in half when the same senior-age Americans were asked how many of their friends are Biden supporters.
I can't think of a single terrorist I consider a friend? Terrorism seems to be the prevailing choice of the Democrat Party this current day!

I lost my party. Traditional Reagan/Bush guy. I can't comprehend how any Republican can support him. He has no policies or platform. It's a personality cult. I have cut out many from my life. Some were quite racist. I thought l knew people well. I didn't.

It isn’t that I don’t care for the lost friends and associates but I can’t trust them. If they support a liar who treats women as whores, who treats veterans as Losers and Suckers, who is working for Putin, they aren’t worth my time. Gone but not forgotten.
I don't believe it's nearly half, more like most people. Any close friends will talk less frequently, avoid politics completely just to get along. Too hard to be close when so divided. How can I be close friends w/ somebody who doesn't believe I have a choice about my body?

I do. I have one close friend who supports Trump. Honestly? I don’t know why she does, she’s a lovely person. When I ask her — kindly, not confrontationally— she doesn’t seem able to explain it. She’s a lifelong Republican and I honestly think it’s habit.

Sadly my best friend is a Trump supporter. It's very hard for me. Because she never talks abt politics i didn't know until recently and was very disappointed. I also have a husband and in-laws who are trump humpers. It's hell.

Most of my friends are Democrats and I like all of them. Politics should not define you and if it does your doing your life wrong.
I have several friends who do. Fortunately they don’t alienate me like so many are currently proud of doing to their close friends / family members because of politics
I do. One, we were in each others wedding parties and remain close to this day. We don’t talk about politics other than the occasional jab because we know we will never change the other’s mind. Another is married to my mother. We talk politics often and I still love him.
Just vote and live with the results for heaven's sake.
Anyone I know who is a tRump supporter I no longer associate with including my sister. To me it is not worth having them in my life. I will not even go to her on her death bed.

Oh, I know lots of folks who support Trump. Some are very open about it while some are in the closet. They know that for me our friendship takes priority. When I see someone incessantly criticizing Biden or Democrats I have to suspect that I have found another closet Trumpster.
My friend is on the anti-Trump wagon pretty hard and she unfriended every friend but one that supports Trump from her Facebook page, she cut out an uncle even, i think! She just can’t deal with it! I myself noticed I will not find much commonality with Trump supporters.
