Coronavirus: Nearly 400 home care groups 'have no protection'

'It's vital we have the equipment we need to keep people safe'

Without protection, providers say they may not be able to care for people awaiting hospital discharge. About a quarter of respondents said they have either run out of masks or have less than a week's supply left.

Saffiya_Khan1 This isn't a new problem due to Coronavirus, obviously massively increased now, but private companies, in general, limit amount of PPE to be used, not even patient dependent. They care more about money that carers/ patients. Needs bringing back in house to councils

Whilst is horrifying I wonder at what point socialcare agencies started ordering PPE, training their staff in correct use and contingency planning. Many needed to be more proactive not reactive, but which which agency were helping them to prepare?

I've provided a metric ton of PPE to local care providers from my store

I work for a very large care company,I was bollocked last night by a district nurse as I was caring for a client, I told her we were told not to use masks unless the client has symptoms!!! She went mad at me :(

Domiciliary nurses working for Health Trusts in NI have no PPE. Given a PPE 'care package' consisting of 8 facemasks and 1 visor. wouldn't last a days work! Told by managers to wash hands entering & leaving clients homes as no hand sanitiser then abused by clients for using soap

I see one in Sedgemoor going into a house Twice a day with No PPE the person she attends is Fully Mobile and so is her Husband and 2 middle aged sons so she goes in not knowing where they have been putting her at great risk

Private companies

Phone the hotline. Not the paparazzi.

Can I get clarity - these are NHS or private companies? If private do NHS sell them PPE?

I saw two “careers” yesterday arrive to their appointment in PPE get out of their cars and head straight to next visit still in same aprons gloves and masks. Not too sure that’s how PPE works but would seem a perfect way to increase infection not control it

Really?

Why? it’s there responsibility to buy them. Are they private or NHS run ?

This is what Hancock should be concentrating on!

Same in every country...!

Sharon Jones MiniArtBuds in Wrexham has been making visors by hand for local care home staff and community outreach workers

Royalty to the rescue late. Sorry to be flippant, but practicality rather than ‘words’ might be of more use at this moment in time ?

Does not surprise me. The blah blah from the government saying they have it....who do you believe

If they don’t exist, they cannot be used. No one predicted their need on this scale.

Will they be allowed to exercise?
