Police found the assailant armed with a large knife after responding to a robbery in progress, according to state officials.

after he stabbed an officer last week in Keansburg has been identified as a 55-year-old borough resident, officials said Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they found James Sutton holding a “large knife” while threatening to harm a pharmacy employee, according to the Attorney General’s Office.“Multiple officers fired their service weapons striking Mr. Sutton, who was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.
