The specific focus of the investigation was unclear and officials declined comment. Norcross became a key figure in the probe, with investigators charging that legislation meant to spur economic development in the state had been re-written in part to benefit political insiders as well as Norcross interests in Camden. Those interests included his insurance company, Conner Strong & Buckelew, Cooper University Health Care, where Norcross serves as chairman of its board of trustees, and his brother, Philip Norcross, a New Jersey attorney and lobbyist.
“The city is not in a position to confirm or deny receipt of a criminal subpoena from any local, state, or federal law enforcement agency,” said city spokesman Vincent Basara.
