Moon Knight Has Been Nerfed, And It's All The Avengers' Fault

In a new preview for Marvel Comics' Moon Knight, it's revealed that Marc Spector has intentionally nerfed himself because of his past with the Avengers. Following the 'Age of Khonshu' storyline in Jason Aaron's Avengers, Moon Knight's god Khonshu forced his avatar to fight Earth's Mightiest Heroes. While Marc eventually turned against his god, this new issue reveals that there were secret consequences from this major event.

During Moon Knight's current series from Jed MacKay following the Avengers event, Marc Spector began his Midnight Mission in New York . While Marc has found a collection of allies old and new to aid in his mission to protect the travelers of the night, there's been something missing beyond the lack of Khonshu: Marc's alternate identities.

MOON KNIGHT #14- SOLIDER, RICH MAN, SCOUNDRELThe scars of Zodiac's attack linger with the faithful of the Midnight Mission, but that doesn't stop Moon Knight from picking an entirely new fight. A new arc begins as Moon Knight goes to war with the vampires of the Structure, but he finds it a battle on two fronts—one on the midnight streets, and the other within his own mind!

Clearly, Steve and Jake aren't fans of the deal that was struck, especially with Marc spiraling as much as he has in recent issues. As such, the likelihood is strong that Spector's alters will soon be making a major comeback to help Marc be the best Moon Knight he can be. While the argument is that Steve and Jake make Marc better , perhaps this could still lead to an altercation between Moon Knight and Black Panther in future issues.

In any case, it's exciting that Marc Spector's alters are coming back to the Marvel Universe . While Marc may show some resistance to the idea and how it might change the new status quo he's built as Moon Knight, it's clear Spector needs help to continue the Midnight Mission in the face of rising threats . The full Moon Knight #14 releases on August 3rd.
