Major League Baseball is moving its All-Star Game out of Atlanta after Georgia enacted new voting restrictions last week, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced in a statement Friday.
"Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box,” Manfred wrote in the statement. “Over the last week, we have engaged in thoughtful conversations with Clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players Alliance, among others, to listen to their views. I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.
Manfred said that MLB is finalizing a new location for the "Midsummer Classic," which "will be announced shortly." The game was scheduled to be played at the home of the Atlanta Braves, Truist Park, in Cobb County.The move comes after President Joe Biden out of Atlanta over the new voting law, which adds a new ID requirement for voters wanting to cast their ballot absentee, shortens the runoff length and in effect hands the election board to the Legislature, among other things.from Charlotte in 2016 after North Carolina passed a law barring anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people.
Biden had called the new Georgia law "Jim Crow on steroids” in calling for the game to be moved. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, called Biden’s push to move the All-Star Game “ridiculous.”Nick Niedzwiadek contributed to this report.

Wrong approach. Don't boycott Georgia that disproportionately hurts the poor. Boycott businesses HQed in Georgia in other states which will only affect the bottom line of these companies as they lose to comperition. Will push them to pressure their representatives.
mlb and Rob Manfred obviously just took someone’s word and didn’t read the new law themselves. If they did, they would see that these restrictions are to protect voters and keep solicitors away from polling.
