Middle-aged people in the United States are in worse health than those living in England, and the disparities are larger for low income individuals, according to a new study.
There is also a bigger gap in health outcomes between rich and poor in the US than in England, researchers from the University of Michigan and University College London found, according to a statement published Monday. Age-proof your brain by keeping your heart healthy, study saysRates of diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure and mental health conditions among middle-aged high income individuals in the US are higher than among those in their 50s in England.
There are now more than 30 countries collecting data that will enable further comparisons of this kind as part of a network of studies.Looking at these trends will allow researchers to work out the effects of public health policies, aging populations or health shocks such as the coronavirus pandemic, explained Langa. The researchers will also expand the work from focusing on high income countries to lower income countries, including India, China and Mexico.
No surprise. Most people cannot afford preventative care. But, at least it’s for a good cause. I mean, the insurance companies profiting from people’s health issues is more important IMO. Unbridled American capitalism American lives. Duh.
And the English are the unhealthiest in western Europe .. hence the highest mortality rate due to covid ..
Speak for yourself. CNN reimagines broadcast journalism with its constant stream of gloom and doom. The messengers of FAKE NEWS and darkness!
So,these people grew up during a long time, only democrats and DS were leading this country! And NOW we pay the price for their crimes they made!!! But you dumb FMAH, will never stop to bully Trump, for all the decades before him! He could'nt be responsible for all this shit! Logic
Comparing them to the UK equivalent is a low bar.
Crappy health insurance (or lack thereof) and the forced medical to money expenditure ensure that result. People like to say we have best health outlets, but don't understand it is the best only if you have the money to pay. Not a millionaire, sorry, not good for you.
The disease of an affluent nations!
Do you fools really believe this? The Brits are in better shape and health. I’d say we are on equal footing.....or equal waistlines!
This is a twisted representation of what the actual study says and concludes. It also isn’t about middle-aged, but ages 55-65. Additionally, it only surveyed England, and not the entire UK. FakeNews gunna fake.
It's about the diet. Whilst not perfect the english diet is better than the average American diet. It would explain why US has been hit hard with covid. Hey this could mean that it's not Trumps fault but decades of malnutrition. You didnt think this article through CNN.
This is the difference between having a national healthcare system available to all, vs. an employment based, for profit system that leaves large swathes of the population with no access to any healthcare. Yet even in this pandemic, we barely discuss it.
Nobody's fault. This is down to deals made between governments and the food lobby who push for chemicals, cheaper ingredients etc for the sake of more profits. Govts agree, even when ingredients are carcinogenic or likely to lead to obesity. Clean this up = better public health.
Well let’s be honest, our food is a LOT better. 🇺🇸
Ummmm....absolutely no surprise from the rest of the world....please start researching outside of America for information....
Sure
Believably, US citizens forced to live in England for more than 35 months know why.
Well done on stating the obvious 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I was in a rut and yes I am an American thrid generation but I started working on my lifestyle and largely cut out processed foods and started doing a personal development program called You Are a CEO. It's changed my couch potato lifestyle and they have an app called Uplift too.
