The charges announced Friday are part of an investigation the state opened in August into allegations of sexual abuse by priests dating back to 1950.
The five men charged in Michigan had worked in dioceses in Detroit, Lansing and Kalamazoo and ranged in age from 55 to 84. Four were arrested, and one is awaiting extradition in India.
