'If 2020 does indeed result in a schism of the Methodist movement like 1844, it's because a break is needed, if unity cannot be achieved, to ensure human dignity is respected,' Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons writes for CNNOpinion

A diverse group of leaders in the United Methodist Church proposed a plan last Friday to split the church into two denominations.

Guthrie Graves-FitzsimmonsThis is not the first time American Methodists have split over the issue of human dignity. The predecessor to today's United Methodist Church split over the issue of slavery in 1844 and did not reunite until 1939. The issue of ordaining and marrying LGBTQ people has been contentious within the denomination for decades. Now the United Methodist Church, the nation's second largest Protestant denomination, has reached another breaking point.

Opinion Sometimes people really, really need to get divorced.

Opinion From the network founded by a guy that called Christians “Jesus freaks”.

Opinion As far as relating the Old Testament and Paul to Jesus, Christianity is not Christianism but Judaism. Jesus has nothing to do with Hebrew Bible and Paul.

Opinion The Methodist church of the deep south and outside of America is simply a different church than the one in Northern America.

Opinion Absolutely! Weed out the heathens!

Opinion But which part is following God’s law, and which part is heretical? 🤔

Opinion I am so afraid that the traditional Methodists are going to be attacked my the gays, lesbians etc if we have separate worship places

Opinion The main branch is going to be small.

Opinion Christians can't even agree on what they believe but still want to force it on the rest of us.

Opinion the methodists still exist?

Church doesn't track ethnicity of abuse survivors, including particularly vulnerable victims of colorEven as it has pledged to go after predators provide support to those harmed by clergy, the Catholic Church has done little to identify and reach sexual abuse victims. Which church? Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopalian, etc Churches that don't show were the millions of dollars they take in are the members and people they help with the millions of dollars should be asham, God commanded the church to help their members and the people in the world.😇🤔😭 Makes sense. The Church did not track the abusers and which parishes they were transferred to in South America, why would one expect the Church to track the abused’s ethnicity?
