“Seeing the devastation and hearing the heartbreaking stories that have surfaced, I knew I had to do something to help my hometown," said Megan an in an official statement."I am so happy that Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the NACC and I aligned on the goal of repairing the homes of the elderly and uninsured single moms who are the most vulnerable and often displaced by these kinds of devastating events.
NACC will oversee the rebuilding process and provide updates, while collaborating with the Congresswoman' office for referrals and online submissions. Houston residents will received aid based on critical needs and a lottery. Public adjusters will asses damages, and licensed professionals will manage issues such as plumbing, electricity and structural repairs. Meanwhile, volunteers will help with the removal of water-damaged materials.
Last month, fellow Houston rapper Travis Scott took action with his Cactus Jack Foundation, launching an emergency food programs to provide 50,000 hot meals to city residents impacted by the storm. With the help of the NACC, The Service Chamber and restaurant owners Scott and his foundation were able to identify the most vulnerable people in need of immediate assistance.
