“There’s a lot of hidden Black talent. We’re trying to combat that.”

Teen VogueTeen Vogue: How did The Digital Diaspora happen?In March, Towards Utopia was looking for ways to spotlight Black artists in the space, trying to figure out how to develop that. There were issues with funding, but it came together quickly in the end. It’s hard to find an investor for something like this because the space is so small, but at the last minute, funding came through.

This project changed that. Youth have a voice, and we have the ability to use that as a way to make people see that are not to be looked down upon. I’ve met so many people, especially Black women around my age, who have harnessed their feelings around intersections of oppression and decided to do something about it.
