Horse trainer Bob Baffert stood beside his lawyer Sunday as it was announced that last week's Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit, tested positive for elevated levels of betamethasone, prompting speculation the horse's crown will be stripped.
"Yesterday, I got the biggest gut punch in racing for something that I didn't do," Baffert said during Sunday morning's announcement."[It's an] injustice to the horse. I don't feel embarrassed, I feel like I was wronged. But I'm going to fight it." "Given the seriousness of the alleged offense, Churchill Downs will immediately suspend Bob Baffert, the trainer of Medina Spirit, from entering any horses at Churchill Downs Racetrack. We will await the conclusion of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commissions' investigation before taking further steps."
Could be a set up by someone (not the trainer) that betted big on that horse. Betters keep their money despite disqualifications.
