Washington Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday strongly condemned the Trump administration's decision to withdraw US troops from northern Syria, calling it a"grave strategic mistake" in a blistering op-ed.
The rare criticism of the Trump administration from McConnell followed a phone conversation the Republican leader had with Vice President Mike Pence.Pence phoned McConnell on Thursday night as the vice president was on his way back from Ankara after brokering a five-day ceasefire between Syria and Turkey, an official told CNN.
