Martin Scorsese Plans to Play a Role in His New Jesus Movie

, and many more, he’s also acted in a number of titles throughout the course of his career. He’s made cameo appearances in many of his own movies, while he also played meatier roles in 1990’s Dreams and 1994’sIn May 2023, Scorsese announced he’s working on a new movie about Jesus after he and his wife Helen Morris privately met with Pope Francis at the Vatican.

“I have responded to the Pope’s appeal to artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus,” Scorsese said at the time, perFurther details about the project have not yet been revealed. Scorsese previously made a movie about Jesus, , with Willem Dafoe in 1988. The director played the role of the prophet Isaiah in The Last Temptation of Christ.
