KUALA LUMPUR - A U.N. human rights expert on Friday disputed Malaysia’s assertion that it has nearly eliminated poverty, saying that official figures were vastly inaccurate and do not reflect realities on the ground.
Analyses done by independent groups suggest that Malaysia has “significant poverty” and that its true poverty rate was about 15%, Alston said. The prime minister’s office and finance ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Alston’s assertion.
The one thing we all have in common, world wide, is the inability to shut our legs (or keep pants zipped), in order to get our own affairs in order before dragging kids into it. How selfish are humans? I used to have empathy for people, but now, I just scratch my head in wonder.
