ALBANY, N.Y.—A majority of New York state voters don’t support reducing funding for police departments, even as they agree the recent killings of George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks are part of a “pattern of excessive police violence toward Black people,” a poll released Tuesday shows.
Mr. Floyd, a Black Minneapolis man, was killed while in police custody on May 25. Mr. Brooks, a Black man, was fatally shot by Atlanta police officers on June 12. The killings have spurred nationwide protests over police brutality and racism.

Many New Yorkers believe the city is a dangerous place and without a strong second amendment right within city limits they rely on the police to protect themselves and their property.

Translation: 'We'd rather just change our profile pictures to a black square than actually make any changes.'
The problem with police brutality will never be fixed. 'Excessive' police violence is used against all peoples of color, race, ethnicity and gender--not just against blacks!
Only 9% of people support this. Yet, politicians are calling it a “leftist” or “democratic” response to systemic racism.
Most people hate Congress, but keep reelecting the same idiots.
The drug dealers and other criminals are the only ones supporting defunding of police. They have the Democrats in their pockets.

Rayshard Brooks incident was tragic & unfortunate but justified
This is the classic definition of cognitive dissonance!
Normal presidents know about cause and effect to prevent problems. Trump policies push the corona virus to expand causing more problems.
The better option is funding massive new efforts into psychological and advance human interaction training, developing new community outreach programs where the police are no longer armed soldiers on the streets but peace ambassadors, and raising minimum education requirements.
What are the statistics of shootings and violent crimes assaults breakins ro robberies in the cities where mayors have already ordered police to not enforce laws ? Saw some reports crimes escalating exponentially as non enforcement permeates

Does anyone know how many people are killed at the hands of police each year? how many arrests are made each year? George Floyd killing was reprehensible and we are protesting police brutality. I haven't seen any articles talking about how much brutality. Any links?
I absolutely don’t believe NY’s oppose cuts to police. This NY wants major cuts and removal of all police toys, hurtful weapons they have proven they abuse the the tax payers No more sticks, gas, tasers and soon guns. They are bullies with a badge a gun and a bad attitude.
