DUBLIN - Ireland’s main opposition party, Fianna Fail, surged into a 12-point lead over the governing Fine Gael party according to an opinion poll that was published on Sunday but conducted mainly before Prime Minister Leo Varadkar called a snap election.
The Sunday Times/Behaviour & Attitudes poll had put the two dominant parties of Irish politics level on 27% heading into the contest but the poll on Sunday showed Fine Gael plummeting to 20% while its centrist rival jumped to 32%, up five points on a month ago. Other regular opinion polls conducted late last year suggested the two big parties, which have broadly similar policies on the economy and Brexit, were closely matched but that Fine Gael held a marginal lead.

Excellent.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Mr Varadkar
I have a metaphor for what is about to happen in the election: Fine Gael is a broken tv set. You want a working tv. So you decide to unplug the broken tv set and plug in another one. This tv set is Fianna Fail, it broke a few years ago
ge2020 This is what retrogression looks like. FF has been the supply party for FG, not its opposition but its partnerincrime. Two right wing parties together. The main opposition has been the alliances of the various left wings.
Please do an article on the last time FF were in government...people seem to have forgotten what they did to this country. Actually, MichealMartinTD EamonRyan you were in government at the time..tell us all about it? GeneralElection2020 ge2020
