Review: In 'Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom,' a lackluster educator is sent to a classroom in the distant countryside in Bhutan’s charming Oscar entry

We’ve all seen films with a clock on the screen, ticking away the minutes of a crisis.

“Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom,” playing in theaters in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, may be the first film with an altimeter registering feet. It’s definitely the first with a yak ruminating peacefully in a one-room schoolhouse while the students learn their multiplication tables. And it’s intensely pleasing, every foot of the way.
