PGA Tour event scheduled for Jan. 25-28 at Torrey Pines also gets commitments from former champion John Rahm as well as Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama

Local favorite Xander Schauffele is among a handful of players — including major champions Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama — who have made early commitments to the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.

Rahm , Schauffele and Zalatoris all rank among the top 10 in the world rankings, with Morikawa , Finau , Homa and Matsuyama not far behind.“We are just three weeks away from opening day and are excited to once again see such a strong field taking shape,” Century Club CEO Marty Gorsich said.Luke List defeated Zalatoris in a playoff to win the 2022 Farmers, earning $1,512,000 for the victory.

Torrey Pines is a special place for Rahm, who recorded the first of his seven tour victories by winning the 2017 Farmers. Rahm won the 2021 U.S. Open played on Torrey’s South Course.
