Liz Cheney braces for primary election loss as Republican resistance to Trump is tested in Wyoming and Alaska

Rep. Liz Cheney, the vice chairwoman of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, is an underdog in Tuesday's Wyoming Republican primary.

“I’m still hopeful that the polling numbers are wrong,” said Landon Brown, a Wyoming state representative and vocal Cheney ally. “It’ll be a crying shame really if she does lose. It shows just how much of a stranglehold that Donald Trump has on the Republican Party.” In Alaska, a recent change to state election law gives a periodic Trump critic, U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an opportunity to survive the former president’s wrath, even after she voted to convict him in his second impeachment trial.

“When you get the ideas from both sides coming together, little bit of compromise in the middle, this is what lasts beyond administrations, beyond changes in leadership,” the Republican senator said in a video posted on social media over the weekend. “This is what allows for stability and certainty. And it comes through bipartisanship.”

“I’ve said all along that ranked-choice voting was designed to benefit Democrats and RINOs, specifically Sen. Lisa Murkowski along with other political dynasty family members in Alaska,” Palin wrote in a recent statement calling for the law’s repeal.Back in Wyoming, Cheney’s political survival may depend upon persuading enough Democrats to cast ballots in her Republican primary election.

Cheney braces for loss as Trump tested in Wyoming and AlaskaWyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, a leader in the Republican resistance to former President Donald Trump, is fighting to save her seat in the U.S. House on Tuesday as voters weigh in on the direction of the GOP. She should brace for a loss on the whole J6 Committee failure as well. She could get even with Republicans who trashed her by running in 2024 as an independent presidential candidate. Like Stein pulled more votes from Hillary than from Trump, she would pull more votes from the Repub candidate than from the Democrat candidate. EC elects the Democrat Go Liz! Go. Just go! Go away.

Cheney braces for loss as Trump tested in Wyoming and AlaskaWyoming congresswoman Liz Cheney, a leader in the Republican resistance to former President Donald Trump, is fighting to save her seat in the House on Tuesday. Voters in Alaska, as well as Wyoming, are weighing in on the direction of the GOP. Wyoming you have a hero representing you. Shame on you for not recognizing it. She will probably lose this election, despite having a voting record that aligned with Trump's more than most Republicans while he was president. But at least her morals and integrity are intact. I can't respect anyone who still supports this corrupt man. It's all about perception , truth has left the building. Call a con man a con man, get voted out because people don't want to face what they did.

Letters to the Editor — Texas water, Liz Cheney, Asian hate, elections, girls basketballI appreciate The Dallas Morning News coverage of how to conserve our limited water, not just in Texas, but around the country. Some ideas that come to mind... Bye Liz... she deserves all the ridicule and humiliation she's about to get. When she's no longer on the committee... all her democrat 'friends' will hate her again.
