The 49ers travel to Texas looking for their first postseason victory on the road since beating Cam Newton and the Jaguars in 2014. In order to do so, they’ll need to figure out a way to slow down the NFL’s most prolific offense.
Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense, which features wide receivers Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Cedrick Wilson Jr. and running back Ezekiel Elliott, have averaged a staggering 31.2 points and 407 yards per game. 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa could make an impact in helping slow down the Cowboys offense, provided he can harass Prescott. Bosa, who had a team-leading 15 1/2 sacks, will be working against the Cowboys’ talented pair of tackles, Tyron Smith and La’el Collins.
On the flip side, the Cowboys’ talented defense could have its hands full with an energized 49ers offense, which has gotten a boost from Jimmy Garoppolo’s return. Still recovering from a wrist injury, Garoppolo rebounded from a slow start last Sunday to help the 49ers clinch a playoff berth with an overtime win against the Rams. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 316 yards and a TD.
