Reflecting on Memorial Day, a reader calls on honoring patriots and those who sacrifice, not those who undermine democracy under the guise of lies.Re: “Texas voters bear responsibility for Paxton,” Metro, Sunday:

I read with interest Gilbert Garcia’s Sunday column. But I object when he wrote, “Texans knew what they were getting and they got what they deserved.” Not all Texans voted for Attorney General Ken Paxton. I do care for my state, but there are more Republican voters in the state than Democrats. Republicans, it seems, don’t care for the state of Texas; if they did they would not have voted for someone like Paxton. Texas Republicans would vote for anyone if they said they were not a Democrat.Fred M. VasquezOn Memorial Day, we honored our war dead, and soon, the Fourth of July will arrive.
