A Tennessee woman is suing the Department of Health and Human Services after a federally funded foster care agency rejected her application because she is a lesbian. - NBCOUT

the Department of Health and Human Services after a federally funded foster care agency rejected her application because she is a lesbian.

Bethany had a longstanding policy of refusing to allow LGBTQ parents to apply to foster or adopt, which prevented Easter from applying last year., but when Easter applied, she was rejected again. A representative for Bethany told her its East Nashville office is funded by USCCB, which prohibits LGBTQ couples from applying, according to the lawsuit.

A spokesperson for HHS' Administration of Children and Families said in an email that it will respond to the lawsuit in time, as with any lawsuit naming the federal government. "I am qualified and can provide a safe and stable home for a child," she said."How is it better for them to stay in a group setting instead of a home with someone who can care for and support them adequately?"

"This kind of discrimination not only hurts the people turned away — it hurts the children in these programs by reducing the number of available homes, and depriving these children of the opportunity to be considered for placement in loving homes that may best serve their individual needs," Loewy said, according to a news release.

NBCOUT HOW do they KNOW haircut

NBCOUT Foster care is for everyone. If you are not going to foster then get out of the way of good people who will foster.

NBCOUT I'm just here for the comments....

NBCOUT Maybe she’s just playing that card. Maybe she’s unfit. Probably.

NBCOUT Freedom for some is freedom for none. Even Catholic Justice Scalia said that there was no rational basis for the discrimination of gay people.

NBCOUT Did someone tell her this?

NBCOUT Human rights, I hope she wins for the good of all. ❤

NBCOUT Good for her… Straight people fuck up kids every day.

NBCOUT Ask yourself why Obama or Biden never updated this rule? Then ask yourself why democrats call republicans 'anti-lgbtq'...

NBCOUT Still trying to drag The South out of a previous century. Good luck 🙄

NBCOUT I implore anyone to go on their state’s adoption website and look at the thousands of children currently awaiting adoptive homes. Yes, these are all orphans! Then tell me we have the luxury of denying these children a loving home.

NBCOUT Which proves these people are only pro birth, they would rather let a child suffer, bounce around from home to home, unloved , neglected, and grow up to be a burden on society than be adopted into a loving home..

NBCOUT more likely the agency lied to her and blamed the federal govt.

NBCOUT K, so she has no case. The constitution completely covers the decision-making process as a 'FAITH BASED' institution in regard to its foster care process. If it goes against biblical principles on which they believe no one can put a gun to their heads for a commitment.

NBCOUT She got a good discrimination case.
