ELYSIAN HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Unified School District's new superintendent was on hand Friday to welcome students at Elysian Heights Elementary Arts Magnet school.
"I'm one who believes in science, and we recognize that probably COVID-19 is here to stay,'' Carvalho said. LAUSD officials mandated COVID testing for all students and staff before they were permitted to return to campuses this week. According to figures released by the district Thursday, 13.3% of district employees tested positive for the virus ahead of the start of classes, and 15.6% of students.
Yeah, that’s why 25% of the staff is out and assistant principals have to cover for the teachers.
If kids are not in school, then teachers should take a pay cut. There is no reason for the massive LAUSD budget, so the LAUSD should have their budget slashed. LAUSD should start selling campuses if they stick to remote learning.
Most LAUSD students are relativity stupid compared to their peers at other schools. Two years of remote learning has made LAUSD students even more stupid.
That is a bold face lie. The teachers are scared of the children. Their behavioral issues are out-of-hand. I have a 13-year old.
That's DOG SHIT!
Schoold should have social distancing, break down breakfast, recess, and lunches into 3-4 so it won't be so crowded. High and middle schoolers stay in one classroom and let teachers rotate classrooms. Not all kids have good hygiene to be rotating classes.
Schools need to let parents have a choice. Zoom and inperson with their school teacher. CANCEL indépendant studies. IT SUCKS!!!!!
Schools aren't safe? Maybe the staff areas only.Go look at the schools office. They have shields;no one is allowed in there.Go look at our kids. Classes are full, all in the same lunch room, no social distancing.
L district
I get emailed someone tested positive in class everyday! 🤣
Because vax and mask.
I see that cue card on his right. Uh huh.🤔
BULLSHIT! we need the online option once again .. these kids get sick easy af!!!
He’s a damn liar. The teachers are all out sick and they are bringing in anyone they can to try and come in and cover to make it seem like everything is fine. It’s insane.
Home should be the safest place
Also we know they only want to stay open so it doesn’t look bad that the super bowl coming here in 3 weeks. The numbers are larger than we know. Most positives test are done at home.
However, the students go to school freaking out that it’s the day they will get Covid. Us Teachers have no other choice, it’s not safe. All my college friends don’t want to be on campus. IT’S NOT SAFE
Is that why my daughter got covid from school and my father in law passed away due to covid Is that how safe your schools are? My daughter tested positive but the school was allowing my son to go back without quarantining even though he lives in the same house!!MiamiSup
Means a lot coming from someone who is not in the classroom.
I love going to other states and seeing school kids in school no mask enjoying their lives and doing what kids do. Come back home to LA and kids are masked up not talking to each other, not playing with each other, scared, it's pretty sad.
He will be herd in LAUSD for 2 years, create a fiasco like the iPad scam and then take the money and run.
What crack is he on?
Did you see that lie fall out of his mouth when he opened it? Why do people think that we are all stupid out here?
Safest place is at home.
He’s lying. Didn’t know he was a virologist.
Saw that in an email that our superintendent sent to us parents and I’m 🤬🤯 my daughter caught COVID19 three days back in school after break. She hadn’t caught it this ENTIRE pandemic but here we are and the State, County, City governments don’t seem to care about our kids.
This is no longer the 1950's.
Not sending my kids to in class school!
I've gone 2 yrs without covid in my house... we have 2 high risk people. 2 years. Family and friends all around have gotten it while we stayed clear. First week back to school from winter break, 2 are now COVID positive. I will have to agree to disagree here.
As true as I would like this to be, just trying to make this make sense given the circumstances.
Lausd schools ? Naw homie
I agree. I was at the market and it was taken over by students hanging out everywhere in the store packing the aisles so the cart doesn’t fit. I would rather they had a school to go to. They need a place to go. 🤔🤨😷🇺🇸
Grateful that LAUSD test weekly.
Is this a joke?
Except for the teachers. 💀👀
If that’s true then let’s get all kids back in school and enough with the covid bullshit
😂
Will he be in a classroom everyday?
