It comes on Juneteenth, the day marking the end of slavery in the United States, amid continuing anti-racism demonstrations following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
But several were removed at the order of North Carolina’s Democratic governor, who said he was trying to avoid violent clashes or injuries from toppling the heavy monuments erected by white supremacists that he said do not belong in places like the state capitol grounds that are for all people.
Also torn down in the San Francisco park was a statue of Francis Scott Key, who wrote the U.S. national anthem “Star Spangled Banner.” Key owned slaves. In Seattle, authorities were investigating what led to the shooting in the area known as CHOP, which stands for “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” zone. It has been harshly criticized by President Donald Trump, who has tweeted about possibly sending in the military to exert control.

Trust me when I say that these people had no idea who he was. It was just a statue they could destroy. It may have made a difference if anyone of them paid attention in history class but they were too busy texting each other.
They also tore up an AIDS Memorial in that same San Francisco park. So, homophobic too?

Why Ulysses Grant... He was the General of the Union... This is not good.
Ulysses Grant literally stood against the KKK and helped Black men make it to office. He was given a slave and he felt it was wrong to have a slave do work and set the man free. I'm guessing to them he is an old white figure head. Shame.
