The celebratory final season of Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski was disrupted this week as his grandson, a member of the team, was arrested for driving while impaired with the potential No. 1 pick in the next NBA draft in the back seat of the car.
Michael Savarino, one of Kryzewski’s grandchildren, is a former walk-on player who was rewarded with a scholarship before this season. He was pulled over for a stop-sign violation early Sunday morning, hours after Duke won its most recent basketball game.
