In 2021, we’re sharing a monthly chronological Bible reading plan that will help us grow and understand how the Bible fits together. We wanted to go ahead and provide the May reading plan so you can print it out and have it ready for the first day of the month!
This month, we’ll continue our chronological journey through Scripture as we read about kings and prophets and how God shapes a Kingdom people. As you read many psalms, some by David, take time to meditate on the words, read them as songs, take your time and carefully pray through these psalms. Notice their Godward bent, focusing your heart on the Lord. Keeping in mind that God, not David, is the central figure. Reflect on God as the great center of all life and the provider of all you need. Meditate on God’s character as you read the stories of King David, recognizing ways God has worked throughout history to call people to Himself.
This month, choose a passage from these psalms that is most relevant for you at this time. Turn the psalm into a personal prayer expressing praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. Ask God to help you make worship central to your life.
