'What we regret most are opportunities we never give a chance.' — MarkKiszla on the possibility of Jamal Murray's return looming over the Nuggets' NBA playoff series with the Golden State Warriors. Read more:

This is basketball, not an exorcism. So at this point, with discretion being the better part of valor, it probably makes little sense for Murray’s first NBA game back in a Denver uniform to be on the same cursed California basketball court where he tore the ACL in his left knee a little more than a year ago. This is not a tease. The Nuggets aren’t playing mind games with a 25-year-old star they still owe more than $100 million.

“I think Jamal’s biggest internal fight right now is: ‘Man, I want to help my teammates; I want to try to beat Golden State and help these guys.’ But also: ‘Am I ready for that?’ That’s what he wrestles with every single night,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. Once upon a time, in a basketball galaxy far away, New York Knicks center Willis Reed limped up and down the court on a torn thigh muscle in a Game 7 playoff victory against the Lakers. While the myth has never stopped growing from that spring day in 1970, the facts of the box score remain the same. Reed scored a meager four points and grabbed three gutsy rebounds in 27 minutes.
