Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says the public should be able to see the court transcripts that led to a grand jury's decision not to charge any officers with the shooting of Breonna Taylor. 'People want to see and be able to judge the facts for themselves.'

, in which Beshear discusses why he's pushing for the release of the transcripts, what change he is demanding and how he is responding to the protests in his state.

I believe in the specific incident, that people want to see and be able to judge the facts for themselves. Now, obviously, the calls being made in Louisville and around the country are about more than just this individual case.

As governor, you're right. I'm limited on what I can do in this specific matter and the actual justice system itself. But what I can do, is be committed to addressing inequalities that exist in just about every part of our society.

I wanna know the truth about her with this trouble boyfriend she had. This wasn't racial shooting like others have been. All the truth needs to come out so people can get off this being a racial shooting. Its a shame it happened but come on. We need the truth from both sides

If only the Governor of Kentucky had any sort of power or influence in Kentucky.

The po lice keep lies going. If it was that easy it should have been a open and shut case. They not release information to the public cause they'll get exposed. You are the governor Andy Beshear. Make it happen

We have a grand jury in place. What they do is not public. They made the right choice and the Childish Governor needs to stay out of the courts business. Our AG already has already stated the facts.

Wouldn’t that take a total upheaval and demolition of our current legal system? Isnt that what Grand Juries and petit juries are for?

The bread, then some mustard, then the ham slice or slices, maybe some lettuce or cheese. Then another slice of bread. Ham sandwich. If you want it indicted, that's extra.

ANYTHING FUNDED WITH TAX PAYER MONEY SHOULD BE OR BECOME PUBLIC.

The fact is that the police officers followed the law. They were sloppy but did not expect indictment of murder.

lsarsour The people are bias and wouldn't know what to do with the information

Georgiemutt Like hell we shouldn’t. Stop trying to protect murderers.

Breonna Taylor was a human being, my God! BreonnaTaylorWasMurdered

WOW

They already judged without seeing the facts

“Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” - Justice Brandeis.

never underestimate a democrat's ability to race bait!!!

Why? It's not anybody's business but the people involved! What he is doing is stirring up speculation and trouble!

ReleaseTheTranscripts BreonnaTaylor

'People want to see and be able to judge the facts for themselves.' Isn't that exactly what the jurors did ?

they wouldn’t believe it anyway

King Andy should shut up. This guy has killed Kentucky's economy. Maybe he should focus on that.

So the people get to decide on whether justice was served? Was it wrong to happen? Yes. Is change needed to prevent it again? Yes. Did they go out and plan on killing this woman for no good reason that day? No.

leanne_cali If they don’t release after the Federal investigation of the police, *then* there is a cover up. Let’s be fair and let that ongoing investigation play out. I know that we who care about people’s rights have little hope in such investigations, but we have to respect the process

The issue of whether the transcripts should be released must be governed by the same rules as other grand jury investigations. The police officers are also citizens, entitled to equal protection under the laws. The DA may explain the reasoning, and the people may vote him out.

Nobody needs to see a transcript to know that the cops can do whatever they want to us, with ZERO repercussions. BECAUSE THE LAW SAYS SO.

No, they do not have the legal education to make intelligent conclusions. They will just pick it apart and scream racist shit.

I fully agree with this Governor.

Too many questions still linger about how the case was presented to the grand jury. In the best interest of the public, transparency is always best

MOVEprofPHD Kind of like the lies that were told to the judge to get the warrant to begin with. Thats the detective that needs to be investigated.

Facts don’t matter

It’s not a public debate it’s a legal proceeding

This is why we have riots. A June 5 post from the Democrat Party included the claim: '3 police officers shot & killed Breonna Taylor after barging into her house without a warrant' It was a lie but there are millions of Dems still repeating it.

Shut up. People just watch TV and let others think for them. Get some courage governor and do whats necessary

More white guilt and virtue signalling. This is a 40 year old man who got 2 years of working in the 'real world' before beginning his career working for the Democrat party, the party of criminals. Here's some truth for the Patriots from TheOfficerTatum

Why? They still won't accept it

Sounds good and if that doesn't stop the rioting, then you have to resign.

NO ONE gets to take a life and not bear the consequences.

Our Kentucky senators are absolute garbage but our Governor GovAndyBeshear is an awesome leader and genuine decent human being!

Not change the rules

lol, he’s asking leftists to be objective. trustthegrandjury

Why did KY elect this goob?

There's absolutely NO justification for what these officers did.

All court transcripts from any government case should be made public

Exactly! Be transparent and let the public decide.

Breaking Breonna Taylor news: The initial ballistics report that was included in the investigative file given to the attorney general’s office by LMPD failed to prove Taylor’s boyfriend fired the bullet that hit LMPD officer Sgt. Mattingly

The warrant was based on partly false information based on fake USPS inspector statement about packages sent to BTs home. The warrant should have been void as not all the information was based on evidence. This man killed BT. tryme

How about he charge the cop shooter

Another Leftist violating a century old norm. Grand jury deliberations are not open to the public for the express purpose of getting to the truth. The ONLY reason the Left wants them public is to intimidate future citizens to now to the Mob. Sad.

That's insanity. Since when can grand jury scripts be made public. Oh! Also DefundNPR

All grand jury decisions, court cases, policies, and procedures concerning the police should be public and highly available for the public to see.

So are we going to start up kangaroo courts for the mob now?

Skooked Won't happen, but we all know the old saying that you can indict a ham sandwich if you wanted to. I don't even know if I need to see the evidence as it's obvious prosecutors did nothing to present and argue that case.

No, we're not endorsing mob rule

Emotional response, not good as governing. Not right or legal. Grand jury testimony is secret for good reason. Muck with that and the system falters. Besides, the inevitable civil suit will provide all facts that anyone would need.

Why? They have shown a total disregard and inability to recognize the facts in regard to all recent BLM/police interactions

Nope. That's not how grand juries work. At all.

a murdered man was once found in a car rented in taylor’s name.

Grand jury is private

SadieMaeTN To help us decide who to vote for; this is a MUST SEE! It's an excellent 'totally unbiased' side by side view of the life of both presidential candidates leading up to now. 'The Choice 2020: Trump v. Biden'

The United State’s legislation is corrupt and unjust, that’s all the “facts” we need.

I agree police should be above the law and immune from any type of scrutiny or punishment. Am I doing this bootlicker thing right?

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron takes heat for Breonna Taylor grand jury decisionThe grand jury's decision to bring no direct charges against officers for Breonna Taylor's killing ignited resentment, disappointment and a wave of criticism against AG Cameron as he tried to tamp down the outrage and what he referred to as 'mob justice.' Seems Cameron forgets he is a free man from the white man. Now is the time for Kentucky to go to the streets and take their state back. I’m ashamed to be American right now. I was embarrassed before, but to let murder go unpunished is way to far. He just married Mitch McConnells relative. What did you expect? He basically provided a defense for the cops at the grand jury.
