Cat owners who are self-isolating or have Covid-19 symptoms should consider keeping their pets indoors to stop them carrying the virus on their fur, a veterinary body has advised.

The British Veterinary Association said animals"can act as fomites" and could hold the virus on their fur if they are petted by someone who has contracted it."For pet owners who have Covid-19 or who are self-isolating we are recommending that you keep your cat indoors if possible, during that time," the BVA said in a statement."The virus could be on their fur in the same way it is on other surfaces, such as tables and doorknobs.

"From the small number of cases it appears that dogs do not show symptoms, but cats can show clinical signs of the disease."The greater concern is that infected owners pet their cats, who then leave the house and are petted or stroked by strangers.

Sounds familiar. We don't want the virus reinfecting the population because of strays and pets.

Fucksake scaremongering bullshit !!!!

Who tf is going to just go pet someone else cat 😂

😂

The fake news create these articles and headlines because they expect people to skip reading it and just make assumptions. Read the article, halfway down they explain it’s because the virus can be on the cats fur. NOT because the cat is infected. CNN is ridiculous

Even if not self isolating they should keep cats at home because can pick it up and bring home or take to others!

Excellent idea. Let's ban the wind, mosquitoes birds rats and and flies too.

Gawd. Just stop.

I didn’t know cats can be carriers of covid-19 virus. I hope cat owners will be extra-careful not to let them go out so that the cats are also safer.

The real reason to keep your cat at home is because that psychopath will go on a killing spree and make different species in your area extinct. You think your cat is cute but it is a little killer that likes to kill for fun. Sorry to burst your bubble.🤷‍♂️

That's just cruel.

Kill the damn cat

THE CATS ARE WITCHES TOO ! BURN THEM !

14% cats in Wuhan found virus or it’s antibody in blood. There is paper shows the evidence it can spread by droplet between cat to cat

Keep your cats indoors. Always. If you don't let your dogs run the streets you shouldn't let your cats.

Notice to cat owners: loose cats will be shot on sight.
