Denver Police observe the crowd during a protest outside the State Capitol over the death of George Floyd on Saturday, May 30, 2020, in Denver.Denver Police observe the crowd during a protest outside the State Capitol over the death of George Floyd on Saturday, May 30, 2020, in Denver.A federal judge in Colorado issued a temporary restraining order Friday night banning the Denver Police Department from using chemical weapons or projectiles on peaceful protesters.
In his 11-page ruling, Jackson called some of the department's behaviors against demonstrators"disgusting." Responding to a lawsuit filed on behalf of several protesters, Jackson said the department's use of pepper spray and projectiles protesters who appeared to be standing peacefully quashed their First Amendment rights and caused serious bodily injury including broken facial bones and vision loss.
Didn't they breach the order the next day?
The Denver police dept will soon fail to protect their citizens. Pathetic.
Do peaceful protestors throw bricks, break windows and burn cars? Our media is way more dangerous than these riots and they are fostering hate and divisiveness
DrElnora Made in USA🇺🇸
SDMayorsOffice Kevin_Faulconer GGomezD9 SanDiegoPD has failed too!! Please stop this practice of assault against its citizens.
CocoDavies what about LRAD use tho
Why hasn't this been condemned nationwide? The use of chemical agents for anything other than riot control was outlawed in 1997. We charge other countries, like Syria, with CrimesAgainstHumanity for the use on peaceful citizens. ACLU
They've already made the restraining order less restrictive though to allow any lieutenant to give the order though.
Martial law just around the corner
Really Nuyen? What crap.
Duh. They are peaceful. Who wrote this crap?
Po little snowflakes. Can't stand the heat...
Instead of Tear Gas they will be issued chairs to sit back and enjoy the show ! No touch No talk
Yeah okay and I believe in fairy dust and Magic! The cops didn't fail at anything it would doing their job in the line of duty just like they always do
So every service member who served in the last 30 years was a victim of a war crime? NPR has become ridiculous. As ridiculous as that judge who ordered that. By the way, munitions aren't used on 'peaceful protesters' It gets declared as an unlawful assembly. If they stay...
This is a great precedent! If only all judges would be that reasonable.
Holy💩
Too bad it a federal judge had to tell the police something that she should already know and do.
A few other departments meet that description. Any other federal judges want bang that gavel?
Public bodies oversee police/sheriff depts everywhere. After protests,BlueWave learn meeting dates.ATTEND MEETINGS! At least 2 or 3 PoliceReform supporters at each meeting. If there are subcommittee meetings attend those too. Nitty-gritty of EndPoliceBrutality happens that way
Next up: federal judge forced to define 'chemical weapons' in light of Barr's ridiculous assertion that pepper balls are not chemical.
It’s a simulation yo siege rap flyting
Why would anyone need to use chemical weapons or projectiles on peaceful protesters? Oh yeah, photo op..
'we investigated ourselves, and found no wrong doing' ...the motto of every dirty department.
Peaceful?
CHARACTER MATTERS
Good. I am reading of the deaths it has caused. A young woman died when she was sprayed with tear gas
They should throw flowers That will stop the violence lol
LoL, peaceful protestors.
Limiting.
I hope protestors burn down the federal courthouse.
Thank you ✊
You hobble the police you hobble justice.
dandysurprise
👏👏
DenverPolice We demand the suspension of all DPD police officers that don't have a 4yr criminology degree. This MUST become a requirement of all police officers. Until then, we do not recognize DPD as legitimate law enforcement. And they will be ignored if encountered.
ansonmount Judge outlaws crowd control. Should end well.
ansonmount NO surprise from me. How many days have there been where DP have NOT fatally shot a suspect? It's so common that it's surprising when it DOESN'T happen.
Usage of tear gas and other chemical weapons is a war crime. Rubber BULLETS (20-40mm grenades) are DEADLY and violate the The Geneva Convention. The United States government is committing war crimes against American citizens. BlueFall BlackLivesMattters PoliceViolence
Npr...is now a leftist propaganda machine...sorry to see you've joined the ranks of fake news...
The police who pushed a man to the ground... anyone supporting their violence should be fired
And they admit that they don't monitor their Mission all the time.
WTF
cityofdenver Thank you
VR_Legion Wait so I read their response tweets and they're trying to appeal to get some of the limitations removed - wtf
Consortiumnews Oh, you can find out where this muthafukin judge live, it's easy...
Wow. That would look like communist China.
Insane that this needs to be decreed by a judge.
If it got to the point that the PD needed to use those items, it wasn’t a “peaceful protest.”
Cops need a court order for this shit?
Federal Judge in CO. Ruled police officers are banned from using chemical weapons (pepper spray)or projectiles on protestors unless an on scene supervisor 'specifically authorizes such use of force in response to specific acts of violence.' I like having a Supervisor accountable.
Lol when a judge orders you not to commit war crimes.
rioting is not peaceful
Rubber bullets anyone , if these so called protesters get out of hand, remind them peace full protests.
Back to batons and German Shepherds, gotcha (wink wink)
Judges who exceed their authority should be ignored.
Jasamsdestiny people should start demanding pds identify which chemia]cal agents they are using, how much, when discharged (same as a shooting report). why? b/c these agents aren’t harmless & some may linger. at some point cities/pd will be sued for damages from the use of these weapons.
...by replacing it with actually killing ppl with their firearms?
Did they actually use peaceful in their order and open up the legality of using it on an unpeaceful protestor
And people will bitch about the judge, instead of the assholes who abused their own authority. If keeping thugs from violating our civil rights makes them a so-called “activist judge” in Trump supporters eyes, so what?
Maybe they will resign too ....?
'Judge R. Brooke Jackson's ruling bans officers from using such weapons unless an on scene supervisor 'specifically authorizes such use of force in response to specific acts of violence.'' Way to mangle the truth, NPR. Got narrative?
Hell then just use old fashioned bullets that always works.
Good
This is good news, but it's absolutely crazy that the issue had to be taken to court. We need change and we need it NOW
If, as cops say, most of them are good guys, why are there so many BAD cops. When Buffalo police shoved a 75 year old unarmed, non threatening man, down where he hit his head on the sidewalk, only one cop tried to assist him and another cop pulled him away. Silence = acceptance
Way to go CO!
Seriously? This is even debated?
Will they obey this? If they do not obey it, who is going to hold them accountable? What they've been doing had been unconstitutional and unlawful from the start, all they want is to protect their total autonomy, they realized they aren't accountable to the law or constitution.
I guess everyone is now going to be considered not peaceful.
mugsyyyyyyy
Good but what about those who lost lives and injured by the cruel police.
They ain't peaceful. Why don't you report the Truth?
SOMEBODY FUCKING GET DALLAS AND NEW YORK
Why just Denver? And why just 'limiting'? 🤔
Kristin Bronson please clarify this ruling. MayorHancock please do the same.
I'm pretty sure using chemical weapons against your own citizens is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Thanks Judge.
Click on the link, 'Judge orders a LIMIT on tear gas use.' NPR headline below. NPR readers are giant, pro-white supremacist sheep.
Love always wins!
Another city that will become Detroit
Disband and defund the police
So nothing has changed then?
Chyna
Coming soon to Denver: Lots and lots of baton injuries 😕
