The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released two video clips from the perspective of body cam footage taken during an officer-involved shooting incident in San Marco nearly three weeks ago.

The sheriff’s office received called on March 30 about a 49-year-old man who was seen stabbing himself near Bertha Street. News4JAX is not identifying the man because he has a documented history of mental illness.The video picks up when officers Veale and Easterly find the man wielding the knife on Atlantic Boulevard and Belote Place. The first video shows Officer Veale getting out of the car to confront the man.

The case is under investigation. The man is identified as an ex-convict who served 12 years in prison for armed robbery, burglary and kidnapping. He also has three prior Baker Acts.
