Some 20,000 troops will be deployed to Washington, D.C. next week to protect the ceremony, Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee said Wednesday.

Only those who serve as military police or have law enforcement experience will be armed, according to an anonymous official who spoke with NPR. They will be drawn from all states, the official said, and will have access to their weapons but will not carry them.
