The pair joins William Jackson Harper, who will star in Season 2 of the anthology series. In addition, Rachelle Williams has come onboard as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Sam Boyd and Bridget Bedard, while Janet Hubert, Jordan Rock and Maya Kazan have joined the show as well.
Williams will star as Mia Hines, the beautiful, intelligent and somewhat unknowable object of Marcus’s affection. After forming a connection early in the season, she challenges Marcus’s ideas about himself and how he moves through the world. Hubert will appear in a recurring role as Donna Watkins, Marcus’s mother. Rock will recur as Trae Lang, a confident, young writer who is resistant to Marcus’s notes and feedback on his debut novel. Kazan guest stars as Emily Hexton, Marcus’s well-meaning and supportive wife, whom he met in grad school before the two of them moved to New York together.
