UAB closes out the season at 7-6 overall, clinching a winning season for a sixth straight year and giving the Blazers 50 wins since returning to the field in 2017.

Brown finished with 24 rushing attempts for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns, eclipsing the century mark for the fifth time this season, and helped lead UAB to its third bowl win in program history with the nation’s leading rusher DeWayne McBride not playing in the game. Brown finished his junior season with 947 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground and 19 receptions for 120 yards.

“ are always encouraging me, man,” Brown said. “I never fumble, this is the second fumble of my career. I was mad. I take ball security really seriously, we always preach ball security. They’ve punched 19 or 20 balls out this season. The game was very close and I was mad at myself. They encouraged me and I appreciate them for that.”

Setup at the 27-yard line of Miami , Brown received three straight carries to bring up 4th-and-1 at the 12-yard line. With two receivers to the left and only Hopkins and Brown in the backfield, the latter shot through a crevice created by a seven-man blocking unit and ran untouched for the game-winning score.
