Javicia Leslie Cast as New 'Batwoman' Series Lead

When Rose left the series, it was assumed the CW, Warner Bros. TV, and Berlanti Productions would be recasting the role of Kate Kane, but in a plot twist, it was reported that the series would be getting an entirely new lead character, Ryan Wilder.for the role, Ryan was described as a “female, mid-late 20s, any ethnicity. Ryan Wilder is about to become Batwoman.”She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her.

A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero., it was announced in 2018 that Rose, who identifies as a lesbian and genderfluid, would be suiting up as the masked heroine in the CW’s adaptation of the popular comic books.
