I've been on a couple of the bullet trains in Japan, and they are incredible. It's crazy to be hiking through the woods and then out of nowhere this huge train goes flying by at 250mph. Also, the Ekiban (boxes of food you take on the train) was... interesting. Interesting stuff
....in the US. You can have banks, inclines etc and that speed. The US choose the auto industry over rail in the early 50’s and to make it like Japan would cost trillions. You have to move and relocate residents, buy, sell land it’s just Not feasible for the US.
