The suggestion that we can just vote this problem away ignores the fact that the people who promise to fight for abortion rights have failed again and again to uphold them. claire_lampen writes

An abortion-rights vigil outside Samuel Alito’s house. Photo: Kent Nishimura/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images Anger over the Supreme Court’s looming abortion reversal arrived at Brett Kavanaugh’s door last weekend, thanks in part to the organizing efforts of his neighbor, Lacie Wooten-Holway.

As a result, the Guttmacher Institute predicts that abortion will become explicitly or effectively illegal across more than half of the country, and sooner than expected. The ensuing health crisis will affect everyone, regardless of where they live, as patient overflow from shuttered clinics in the most restrictive regions ripples out to the coasts.

That one side of the aisle is now indignant about Kavanaugh’s inalienable right to privacy is predictable, if also ironic: Roe’s central premise holds that the right to privacy means women get to make their own decisions about their own bodies. But even the response from Democrats misses the point. President Joe Biden “strongly believes in the Constitutional right to protest. But that should never include violence, threats, or vandalism,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tweeted Monday.

This is great! If men could get pregnant, this would not be an issue! Can't wear masks for public health safety because of violating constitutional rights, reversing Roe vs Wade I guess isn't doing exactly that to women!!

People should be able to abort a fetus for any reason without question. ajabeech A club foot is treatable, my daughter had it wore leg brace for a few year as a baby, now she is playing soccer. This article is misleading. ajabeech This is powerful & thoughtful read. Thank you for sharing, Aja.
