Passover typically draws crowds of Israelis outside to burn heaps of bread, commemorating the Biblical exodus from slavery in Egypt. Now under lockdown, the streets of Jerusalem and other cities are nearly empty on the first day of the week-long holiday

Police have thrown up roadblocks and will deploy drones and helicopters to enforce curbs on movement throughout the lockdown, a spokesman said. A rabbi accompanied by a firefighter tossed a long, fire-tipped stick onto a patch of flammable liquid leading to a pile of the leavened bread products, many still in plastic bags, engulfing the mound in smoke and flames. One Jerusalem man, Daniel Arusti, disposed of a paper bread box in one of the dumpsters outside his house, instead of gathering with his ultra-Orthodox community to burn it in public.

But in the ultra-Orthodox Jerusalem neighbourhood of Mea Shearim, some Israelis flouted the restrictions and gathered in small groups or by themselves to burn leaven alongside the district’s sandstone homes and concrete walls.

How to Passover in quarantine: Everything you need to know about hosting a (virtual) sederFirst off: Is video chat kosher? For certain denominations of Judaism, using electricity on Shabbat and other Jewish holidays is a no-no. But some prominent groups of Orthodox and Conservative rabbis have okayed the use of video chat just for this year. As long as christens won’t be able to worship properly that’s all that matters First off, there is no higher belief there is no existence of such...soon as these stupidity of social people realize and understand this, the better they will be. Second, this is a chance to start understanding yourself as a human being because again there is no belief... As a Christian, I don't agree with some Jewish beliefs. This is no exception. The word of God is unerring and unchanging. If it is wrong, it is wrong always. Facts and circumstances change but God's word does not.
