JERUSALEM — Two Israeli airlines launched their first commercial flights between Israel and Morocco on Sunday, less than a year after the countries officially normalized relations.

Israeli Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov said the new direct flights would “help advance fruitful tourism, trade and economic cooperation and diplomatic agreements between the two countries.” As part of the deal, the United States agreed to recognize Morocco’s claim to the long-disputed Western Sahara region, however the Biden administration said it will review this decision. Morocco’s 1975 annexation of Western Sahara is not recognized by the United Nations.

El Al said in a statement before the departure of its first flight that the company plans to operate five flights per week between Israel and Morocco.

Algerian would rather quit Olympics than fight IsraeliAn Algerian judo competitor refuses, for the second time, to take on an Israeli athlete to show support for Palestine; withdraws from the Tokyo Olympics. There’s a word for that…. ...than quit, pack your bags and hit the road I'd say. That's a sport competition and not a political... Israel is an illegal apartheid state… he wins, FreePalestine

Algerian would rather quit Olympics that fight IsraeliIt was the second time Fethi Nourine refused to fight the same Israeli athlete. I wonder if there was the threat of adverse consequences for him or his family if he competed against an Israeli and lost. There's a softball of a joke in there. I'm surprised that nobody in a Twitter comment thread has jumped on it yet. You would rather try and spin some BS than spell ur headline right FreePalestine
