Photo: Chris Jackson/Getty Images Meghan and Harry’s forthcoming tell-all conversation with Oprah is scheduled to air this weekend, and seeing as it’s the first interview the couple has granted since stepping back from their royal duties in January 2020, it’s expected to be juicy. According to CBS, Meghan will speak to “life as a royal, marriage, motherhood” and “how she is handling life under intense public pressure.
Needless to say, the palace doesn’t seem thrilled about the conversation, and it appears royal insiders may be trying to smear her in advance of its release — or so suggests a spokesman for Meghan and Harry. In recent days, some suspiciously timed negative reports have leaked to the press.
A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the Times that the claims are nothing more than “a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation.” The spokesman also noted the suspicious timing of their release, adding, “It’s no coincidence that distorted several-year-old accusations aimed at undermining the Duchess are being briefed to the British media shortly before she and yhe Duke are due to speak openly and honestly about their experience of recent years.
The statement continued: “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.” Indeed, during Meghan’s royal tenure, she suffered “almost unsurvivable” online abuse and was often the subject of ruthless, racist coverage by the British tabloids.
Meanwhile, senior royal sources told the Daily Mail that the palace did not orchestrate the release of the complaints. Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
But the ‘duchess’ is not attempting to smear the royal family of course. I think it’s time Buckingham Palace revealed their truth about Meghan Markle.
It seems like MM has been wielding the threat of a derogatory interview over The Firm. If it wasn't the best experience, why not take the high road and make a new life? Banking on sensationalism (at select times) to establish relevancy/get publicity? Enjoy your children!

It actually appears to me that the Royal Family is trying to protect the monarchy from a narcissist. Why the Oprah interview? Wasn't 'Finding Freedom' supposed to tell their side of the story?
Why does the OPRAH interview have to be when Prince Philip (Harry's Grandfather) is in the hospital? I personally think Harry showing poor judgement.

The Palace is an employer and has a duty of care to those employees. An investigation will establish the facts and if MM is innocent of the claims then no issue. Her OTT response suggests otherwise.

Can’t imagine this is going down well with Harry. I guess the Queen, Charles and William don’t think he is a ‘much loved member of the family” after all. If my family went after MY spouse I don’t think I would feel “much loved” any more. Harry did the right think getting out.
