CLEVELAND, Ohio — The COVID-19 omicron surge, which emerged in late December in Cuyahoga County and the rest of Northeast Ohio, appears to be over.

On Wednesday, the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ohio decreased for the 10th day in a row, according to, with much of the decrease fueled by dropping hospital patient counts in Northeast Ohio - the area that just a month ago was one of the nation’s epicenters for new cases.
