Netflix single-handedly steered the entire industry to capped backends. TheWarner Bros. made to its film slate last year kicked off a transition phase for contracts that will be playing out for years.
This 'monkey points' battle has been going on for decades. No movie shows a profit on paper, even the highly successful ones, so nobody gets profit sharing. The only solution is to ask for a higher upfront guarantee or try to get points off gross box office and streaming views.
