DUBAI - Iran said on Sunday it would not back down from its decision to scale back some of its commitments under 2015 nuclear deal with major powers, state TV quoted Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi as saying. “The European signatories of the deal lack the will to save the deal. Our decision to decrease our commitment to the deal is a national decision and it is irreversible as long as our demands are not met,” Araqchi said after meeting the British minister for the Middle East in Tehran.

Instead of abandoning the deal, US + allies should have worked to get fears addressed. Iran made a mistake by going alone, not partnering with/ involving Russia, China in the agreement.

Then Iran should go ahead with nuclear war heads with the probable design for harming neighboring enemy countries, but assured plan for self destruction .

They never were going to comply! $1.5B reasons. Bummer.

If they knew the sanctions would be lifted and they can trade freely, they would recommit without even second-guessing themselves

They tried compliance - and that brought a US carrier fleet to their doorsteps.

sfrantzman irinatsukerman it never amounted to much anyway

The USA was on a path to lasting peace and now the TrumpAdministration has put us all on a path to war. The benefits of the JPCOA would have had lasting benefits for another generation. Now, best case scenario, it will take another generation to get back to where we were.

HassanRouhani the deal actually is eliminate nuclear ambitions and a bright future. The alternative is very dark as you should see. You can take a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. I will pray for you. Good luck. Kent

MOAB.

The madness of the mullahs should be stopped before it’s too late

We dropped out of the deal, remember? And put sanctions on them, violating the deal. So of course they are no longer under any obligation to commit to a deal that we already violated. Sheesh.

And they announced that it will only take them days to be back where they were. Days...not months...not years What sort of moron would make a sham of a deal like this?

Can anyone honestly blame them? Regardless of what you think, there was no solid reasoning proven for the withdrawal of the USA from the deal. Why would you even bother to negotiate with bad faith actors, especially when that bad faith actor is the USA.

Translation: They were never keeping to the deal nor did they intend to.

boom

Great! End of Islamic regime on its way :)

Backing out of the deal was as stupid as possible. Stop punishing Iran for our actions!

Yada yada yada .. live without an economy.

The US unilaterally left the deal. THERE IS NO DEAL. 'Former partner angry that ex is seeing other people.'

Until tomorrow.

I don't see why they would stay in the agreement after US backed out.

So what. They paid it lip service at best. Inspectors were never given proper access, Iran continued to improve its enrichment capability and everyone knows it. This is political, Obama made the ridiculous deal and anything with his stamp is untouchable.

The US has no right to tell other nations what to do. We have zreo credibiity except as a bully who sells weapons and drugs throughout the world. The US is the only nation to have used nukes on another nation. The US needs to be subject to laws, just as everyone else is.
